The Death Dealer Redux

Friday 04/24/2009 12:08 PM

It is my great pleasure to unveil my latest painting... my own version of Frazetta's The Death Dealer. It is today's image.

Nah, I'm yanking your chain. Whenever Candy and I go to Havana (Florida, not Cuba), we always stop in to see the latest paintings done by Thomas M. Thomson and his mom. They work together in the same studio and they are true masters of the brush and palette.

When Candy and I were in a Havana about a month ago, I was blown away when I saw that Thomas was working on his own re-creation of Frazetta's The Death Dealer. He and I chatted about classic old school fantasy painters like Frank Frazetta and Boris Vallejo and I added myself to his e-mail mailing list. Last week he sent a message out with today's blog post image of his completed version of The Death Dealer.

I don't know about the legal issues involved if he tried to sell the painting, but even if that was worked out, I'm sure I'd have to save a lot of pennies (like hundreds of thousands) to be able to buy it.

You can learn more about Thomas at your Link of the Day. Yes, he does commissions.

Sorry about the three day pause for dramatic suspense.
