Dead Pipe Jade (Unmeaning Flattery)

Think I'm going to go on a dead plant photo trip for a few posts.

Here is my favoritest jade plant ever. I took a particularly curvy jade plant a few years ago and threaded it through this old rusted elbow of pipe. It grew beautifully and sprouted a couple separate stalks through the surrounding soil.

Then I had to learn the harsh lesson of what freezing temperatures can do to water-filled succulents. My own fault. I could have brought them in — easily. But I had dodged so many bullets in previous winters that I thought my plants were impervious.

Lost about 25% of my crop.

Liam Finn "I'll Be Lightning"

Witnessed the amazement of Liam Finn accompanying himself when he played live on The Craig Ferguson Show. Blistering performance of a beautiful song (“Second Chance”). Didn't care for the album at first, but it's slowly sinking its claws into me. Don't forget me when you grow old. Truly haunting.
