Great Blue Heron

I was thrilled to spot this Great Blue Heron enjoying some shade (probably looking for its lunch). We saw lots of birds, including ahinga, osprey, turkey vultures (eating a dead deer on the side of the road on the way down) and lots of small fast birds that sped across the surface of the water like jet fighters trying to kick up water trails.
